Bandarban Municipality was formed in 1984 as a 'C' category municipality with an area of 15.88 sq km. Which subsequently improved in the municipality of 'A' in the 2001. The hill is surrounded by the clever side of the city and the Sangu River flows in the middle. Bandarban Hill District surrounded by immense beauty and green hills. This hill district is shining in its glory with the highest number of Bengalis, the highest ethnic groups, the highest horn Tajingdong, the hill rivers and the numerous natural scenes. The livelihoods, social rituals here are full of variations. There are numerous sights of hill daughter Bandarban. Tourism is the interesting place as Meghla, Nilachal, Nilgiri, Chimbuk, Shoila Propath, Rizhuk Waterfall, Keukradong, Bogalek and many other sights. In the center of the city is the location of the Bomang Raj family, which is a symbol of the hill people. Currently, about a million people live in this city. On one side of the city is the Bandarban Cantonment and the Sangu River flows in the middle. The Bandarban Municipality is located on the banks of this Sangu River.
